Spotlighting Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter Schools Robotics Coach:
Kenyata Fountain

Kenyata Fountain, the robotics coach at Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter
School. Earlier in the school year, the Kenilworth Tigers Robotics Team won the Robot
Design Award and placed 3rd in the robot game at LSU’s First Lego League Challenge
Qualifying Tournament.

Year-round, Ms. Fountain inspires her team to do their best by maintaining a positive and
authentic relationship with team members and their parents. She is a real-life example of
how robotics can challenge you into being a better person. Students who compete on her
team are following her lead by showing their peers how coding and robotics is making a
difference in their lives and their communities.

Coach Fountain has not only had a positive impact on her robotics team but every student
in the school. Kenilworth students see what she’s doing and they want to be a part of it as
well. Her inspiration has overflowed from her robotics team onto all kids in our school.

Ms. Fountain received the Coach/Mentor Award at the Lego League Competition based
on a submission by Kenilworth Student, Ja’Liayha Drake:

My coach inspires the team to do our best by guiding us step by step when we make
mistakes and giving us the tools to learn new strategies.

Principal Hazel Regis says, “Coach Fountain deserves this very special recognition
because she’s a great mentor and goes beyond for us as her students to make sure we
succeed. She is an awesome, caring, and motivating mentor that deserves the world!”
