Inside BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City’s Sneaker Ball Tradition
A few weeks ago, BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City students eagerly donned their finest attire—from sleek suits and elegant evening gowns to their most cherished sneakers—for an exciting evening filled with fun, friendship, and fundraising. BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City’s second annual “Sneaker Ball” was an upscale, black-tie affair that seamlessly blended the vibrant, youthful energy of sneaker culture with the heart and spirit of the Baton Rouge Mid City neighborhood.
This unique event allowed students to express their individuality and personal style while coming together as a united front to support their school’s ambitious goals. Proceeds from the event will be used to secure funding for future programs and initiatives at the tuition-free public charter school, which serves grades K–5 in East Baton Rouge.
A reflection of BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City’s vibrant community
Now in their fourth year since opening, BASIS Baton Rouge Mid City has a lot to celebrate. Under the visionary leadership of Head of School, Marissa Carroll, BASIS Baton Rouge Mid City has achieved remarkable academic success. In 2024, the school achieved the highest growth percentage in LEAP scores throughout the entire state of Louisiana. These scores are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaborative efforts of parents, teachers, administrators, and students.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and the exceptional work of our teachers,” said Marissa Carroll. “With these united efforts, we can and will continue to achieve remarkable results for Mid City and the entire Baton Rouge area. This school is a shining example of what can be accomplished when a community comes together in support of its children and their education.”
The energy and enthusiasm radiating from the school’s recent “Sneaker Ball” event was a true reflection of the vibrant spirit that defines the BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City community. “The foundation for success has been firmly laid here at BASIS Mid City,” said Carroll. “We look forward to a future filled with endless possibilities—and we can’t wait to bring back our Sneaker Ball event next year!”
